“A state of consciousness; you are actually in an enhanced state of awareness, which is a very natural and safe state of mind.”
As you scan every word of this web page you will begin to discover new ways of self discovery and just imagine that feeling of joy and calmness you can get from Hypnotherapy.
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy uses the state of hypnosis to treat a variety of medical and psychological problems. It is estimated that 85% of people will respond at some level to hypnotherapy. It may even succeed where other more conventional methods of treatment have not produced the desired result. When carried out by a trained and qualified hypnotherapist the benefits can be long lasting and often permanent. It is natural and safe, with no harmful side effects.
What can Hypnotherapy be used on?
As you probably know hypnotherapy can be applied to many psychological, emotional and physical disorders, where your problem is due to habitual conditioning, accumulated stress or unresolved events in your past then hypnotherapy can be used to access and reprogramme a variety of complexes which are being sustained and remain active in the unconscious mind such as:-
- Stress management
- Anxiety and panic attacks
- Unwanted habits and addictions (e.g. smoking, overeating, alcoholism)
- Disrupted sleep patterns (insomnia)
- Lack of confidence and low self-esteem
- Fear of examinations and public speaking
- Allergies and skin disorders
- Head aches including migraines
- Anger management
- Relationship difficulties
- Relieve pain in the delivery stage of labour and dentistry
- Obsessive behaviours
- Conditions related to tension (e.g excessive sweating, nail biting, eczema)
- Improve sports performance, studying, revision for exams
Imagine what it would be like if you could be free of your problems and issues? When you get in touch with your inner strengths you will find the answers will come quickly.
How does it work?
As you probably know hypnotherapy works by inducing you in a sense of deep relaxation with your attention narrowed down, and focused on appropriate suggestions made by the therapist. These suggestions help people make positive changes within themselves. Long gone are the days when hypnosis was seen as waving watches and controlling people’s minds. Of course you’ve heard that in a hypnotherapy session you are always in control and you are not made to do anything that’s out of your control. It is generally accepted that all hypnosis is ultimately self-hypnosis. A hypnotist merely helps to facilitate your experience – hypnotherapy is not about being made to do things, in fact it is the opposite, it is about empowerment.
Contrary to popular belief, hypnosis is not a state of deep sleep. It does involve the induction of a trance-like condition, but when in it, the client is actually in an enhanced state of awareness, concentrating entirely on the hypnotist’s voice. In this state, the conscious mind is suppressed and the subconscious mind is exposed, allowing the desired changes to be made.
Hypnotherapy – What to Expect
A typical hypnotherapy session will typically last 45-60 minutes (the first session will take approximately 90 minutes as this will also include your initial consultation). After the initial consultation we can then decide the number of session required (generally no more than 3-4 sessions). For Stop Smoking cessations allow 2 hours for your session.
The session will be at one of our therapy rooms based in Leeds, West Yorkshire or Saddleworth, Lancashire, or in the comfort of your own home, where we will be seated comfortably, we talk through your particular area of concern/problem and explain the hypnosis process to be carried out in your session.
